Cocoa Farmer Agroforestry, Cameroon

This project in Western Cameroon aims to help solve unsustainable farming practices of smallholder cocoa farmers. This project is helping 500 cocoa farmers to grow higher quality cocoa while improving their land, and livelihoods.

This project, which is a collaboration between Trees-for-the-Future & Fagrib is helping 500 smallholder cocoa farmers in Western Cameroon (in and around the towns of Bafoussam, Douala & Yaoundé) to plant and grow much higher quality cocoa. The project will not only significantly improve the land (roughly 125 acres) by planting higher quality crops but will also improve the livelihoods of the farmers through increased income.

This project is having a direct positive impact on all of the 500 farmers and their families. Better crop production means healthier diets for those who rely on the land to eat and it also means greater income for the farmers. This in turn will allow families in the area to afford better healthcare and education, greatly improving their quality of life.
